For example, you should be able to:

zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Some images do not have a text alternative. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).

The website does not consistently support text reflow when resizing the browser window. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.10 (Reflow).

Users cannot always adjust line height or text spacing. This may affect WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.12 (Text Spacing).

There is currently no ‘skip to main content’ link. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks).

Some forms are difficult to navigate using only a keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).

Some content becomes difficult to read or overlaps when text is resized. This affects WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.4 (Resize Text).

Disproportionate burden

Some of our interactive forms are provided through third-party software and are styled to match our website. We have assessed the cost and resources required to fully remediate these issues and, at this time, believe that resolving all accessibility barriers within these systems would be a disproportionate burden under the accessibility regulations.

We will continue to monitor these systems and look for opportunities to improve accessibility when updates or replacements become available.

Content that is not within the scope of the regulations

Some older documents published before 23 September 2018 are not fully accessible. For example, they may:

not be structured for screen readers

contain images without text descriptions

use complex tables or layouts

The regulations do not require us to fix these documents unless they are essential to providing a service. However, we will provide accessible versions on request.

Accessible alternatives

If you need information in a different format, such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio or braille, please contact us.

Email: ParishClerk@thorpevillage.co.uk

We aim to respond to requests within 15 working days.

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website.
